
Justin grew up on a farm in central North Carolina. He began riding at a very young age competing in everything at 4-H shows, the National Barrel Racing Association, and Roping events. At the age of 18 he took a job for Alex Ross in Greensboro North Carolina. Over the next four years he helped train multiple World and Congress Champions. In 2004 Justin started Justin Wheeler Quarter Horses and over the next three years trained several other World Champions and Reserve Congress Champions.
Joy spent her child hood riding horses in Coshocton Ohio. She competed in Western and English events at 4-H and open shows. In 2003 she wanted to show horses professionally and took a job for Randy Wilson Quarter Horses in Zanesville Ohio. Under the guidance of Randy Joy won multiple futurities and was the 2004 NSBA $2500 open rider of the year. She then went on to work with Kenny Lankin Quarter Horses and assisted with the training and showing of several Futurity champions.
In 2006 Justin and Joy met at a horseshow thru mutual friends and started dating. At the end of 2006 Joy moved to join Justin in Greensboro. In April 2008 they were married and started Wheeler Show Horses. Since then they have trained numerous World and Congress Champions.
Wheeler Show Horses is located in Liberty, North Carolina. They have 23 stalls, several turnouts and a 150' x 250' riding arena. They specialize in Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle and Western Riding. They also coach youth and amateur exhibitors.
